What Wrap is Used for?
Digital Characters
Wrap lets you convert a series of 3D-scans of actors to production ready characters sharing the same topology and texture coordinates
Scan-Based Blendshapes
Given a series of 3D-scans of an actor’s facial expressions Wrap is used to generate a set of morph-targets for further animation
Autorigging
Wrapping a known topology around a full-body scan is a starting point to many autorigging tools
Virtual Try-On
Wrap is widely used by virtual fitting room vendors. Fitting a body model with known topology makes it easy to adjust its shape, take measurements and a perform cloth simulation
特色
- Python scripting for parameter expressions
- Dock panel system
- Support for Alembic and Google Draco formats
- Soft vertex masks
- 16 new nodes
- Wrapping, OpticalFlowWrapping, and BlendWrapping are almost 2 times faster
- Support for high DPI monitors
更新介紹
Major Nodes
Fast Wrapping
The FastWrapping node works up to 20 times faster than a regular Wrapping. The speedup is especially noticeable on heavy models.
Point Detector
The PointDetector node allows to automatically detect facial markers on FACS scans.
Unsubdivide Geom
The UnsubdivideGeom node restores previous subdivision levels for models produced using Catmull-Clark subdivision.
Match Topology
The MatchTopology node matches the vertex order of your model with a given reference.
Find Transform
The FindTransform node computes transform between two models with the same topology.
Delta Mush
The DeltaMush node implements the delta mush method.
Major Features
- Ctrl + F hotkey in the SelectPointPairs node to automatically fit the camera to the place of the next point. Please check this tutorial to see how it helps to speed up a point selection process.
- A tooltip panel at the bottom left corner of the viewport and visual editors. It shows a list of shortcuts supported by the current tool.
- WrapCmd application no longer requires OpenGL. It makes it easier to run it on a farm or machines without graphics cards. The only nodes that require OpenGL 2.1 to compute are the ExtrapolateImage and Render nodes. When running on machines without graphic cards or with no OpenGL 2.1 available, these nodes will return an error.
- 3D viewport now supports antialiasing.
- Improved Preferences dialog.
- Improved search in the node menu.
Getting Started
In this tutorial you will find out:
- basics of Wrap3 node-graph interface
- viewport navigation
- how to load scans and textures
- rigid alignment example
Wrapping
In this tutorial you will find:
- how to wrap a basemesh around the scan
- how to specify control points
- how to use polygon selection to exclude a part of a model from wrapping
Scan Processing
In this tutorial you will learn how to:
- fix non-manifold topology
- remove spikes from scan
- remove small components from a scan
- decimate a scan
- apply a series of operations to a scan in batch mode
Batch Wrapping
In this tutorial we will cover the following topics:
- head wrapping
- storing and loading point selections from disk
- using free polygon selection for mouth socket
- running wrapping in batch mode
FixSymmetry Node
In this tutorial we present FixSymmetry node that lets you create symmetrical models out of non-symmetrical scans. You will learn:
- how to use the node
- how Side dominance parameter works
- the difference between traditional methods and volume preservation approach
Replace Node
We present new Replace node in Wrap3. It takes two models in the same topology and seamlessly replaces a part of one model with a part of the other.
Subset Node
A Subset node detaches a selected part of a model to a separate geometry (a subset). The subset can further be modified, saved, loaded, wrapped or transformed. Any changes in vertex positions of the detached geometry can be later brought back to the original model using ApplySubset node.
Optical Flow Wrapping Tutorial Part 1
In this tutorial we will learn how to prepare a neutral mesh to use it later with OpticalFlowWrapping node.
Optical Flow Wrapping Tutorial Part 2
In this tutorial we will learn how to fit a neutral mesh to a set of scans of facial expressions using OpticalFlowWrapping node in Wrap3.3
Optical Flow Wrapping Tutorial Part 3
In this part we are going to learn how to handle extreme facial expressions using control points and retargeting technique in Wrap3.3
ZWrap Plugin for ZBrush®
ZWrap is a plugin for ZBrush® that allows you to automatically fit a pre-existing topology to your models. With an easy-to-use interface, it greatly speeds up a process of converting your characters and 3D scans into a production-ready topology.
Current version: ZWrap 2020.08.05 (20 August 2020)
Supported ZBrush® versions: 4R8, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021
Platforms: Win64, macOS
Graphics card: OpenGL 2.1 and higher
R3DS Wrap4D
R3DS Wrap4D is an extended version of Wrap designed specifically for 4D processing. It takes a sequence of textured 3D scans as an input and produces a sequence of meshes with a consitent topology as an output.
The solution includes 12 new nodes. At the heart of the pipeline is the FacialWrapping node which combines the power of the BlendWrapping node with the results from the lip and eyelid detector. The idea behind the node is to provide a robust result that doesn’t require cleanup.
